چکیده
omalizumab. Both patients have also been on long-acting b2 agonists and inhaled corticosteroids in standard doses throughout the time to control mild asthma symptoms (GINA I). In addition, they have required low dose prednisolone (5–10 mg) over the course of time to control blood eosinophilia, a hallmark of CSS exacerbation. We agree with Giavina-Bianchi et al that the longterm control of CSS requires immunosuppressant therapy and consider omalizumab as an effective add-on therapeutic agent. Because of the variability in the symptoms presented and the subspeciality of the referral centres who see these patients, a registry of patients with CSS is needed, based on clinical symptoms, regional background and therapeutic strategies. The underlying mechanisms as to how eosinophilia and cytokine signalling affects the course of the disease remains elusive and requires standardised treatment options and clarification of the molecular pathways to improve patient care.

متن کاملPneumatocele in Postpneumonic Empyema in Children: A Case Report
Pneumatocele is most often seen in children with bacterial pneumonia but also develops after blunt thoracic trauma, positive pressure ventilation, and caustic aspiration. We here describe a case of pulmonary pneumatocele in postpneumonic empyema in a child.Generally pneumatocele need not an interventional treatment and an excellent prognosis can be given with only surveillance and antibiotic if...
متن کاملDiagnosis of thromboembolic disease: Combined ventilation perfusion lung scan and compression ultrasonography
The clinical management of pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis of the legs are similar and requires prolonged anticoagulation therapy. The standard diagnostic approach in patients suspected of pulmonary embolism is ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) lung scan and compression ultrasonography to detect deep venous thrombosis. This retrospective study analyzed the role of V/Q lung scan an...
متن کاملDiagnosis of pulmonary embolism: a cost-effectiveness analysis.
OBJECTIVE Pulmonary embolism is a major cause of maternal death. The work up for suspected pulmonary embolism is complex, with many potential diagnostic options. We performed a cost analysis to evaluate which of several diagnostic strategies was the most cost-effective with the least number of deaths from pulmonary embolism. STUDY DESIGN We created a decision tree to evaluate the following st...
متن کاملInvestigating the small lung: which imaging procedure?
Ventilation and perfusion radionuclide lung scans, using krypton 81m and technetium-99m macroaggregates, were performed together with a variety of other imaging procedures in 18 children aged between 1 week and 13 years in whom radiology had shown a small lung. Radionuclide scans provided an assessment of regional ventilation and perfusion unobtainable by other means, and 4 main categories of d...
